2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Revealed Ahead of Paris Auto Show

lr_rangeroverevoque2b.jpg

That's right. The Land Rover LRX is now called the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, because the latter rolls of the tongue more elegantly, no? This smallest, lightest and most fuel-efficient of all Land Rovers goes on sale in Summer 2011, and as you've heard, will come in both front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions.

Though it's making its official, official debut at Kensington Palace, its official auto show debut comes this fall in Paris. This is a world vehicle that Land Rover will build in Halewood, England (a suburb of Liverpool), and sell in 160 countries.

Land Rover isn't offering any hard drivetrain details (though we don't think it will be the diesel-electric-hybrid-nuclear-fusion system from the LRX concept), much less actual specifications, but Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover, did explain the reasoning behind the vehicle's stuffy name.

"It was important to give the car a name that was instantly recognisable through language and cultural boundaries throughout the world," he said in a press release. "We wanted to create a new name which was innovative and different. A name which implies exclusivity and arouses emotions. Evoque is cosmopolitan and cross-continental, sophisticated and matches the car's urban elegance."

Yup, interesting and sophisicated vehicle.
But will Land Rover's production version have any sense of reliability?
Right now they remain near or at the bottom of every quality survey.
And given our area has one Land Rover dealer serving hundreds of square miles, that's enough to give real pause to anyone buying it for daily transportation.

Oh I've seen these kinds of pictures before. If you stare at it long enough, a Land Rover will appear in the background.

I guess the LRRR Evoque is aimed at the "trendy, style conscious, metrosexual male/female" since it's working with VOGUE magazine.

And as for this line:
"We wanted to create a new name which was innovative and different. A name which implies exclusivity and arouses emotions. Evoque is cosmopolitan and cross-continental, sophisticated and matches the car's urban elegance."

Wow; It's amazing how self-delusional marketing people are.....

Forgot to add that this car does not appear in showrooms until late 2011.
In other words, it's 1.5 years away from now.
Long time to wait.... hopefully they will get it right.

The font lights looks a lot like the one seens on the Dacia Duster Concept. Not quite sure about this!. Question is how the LR2 will survive again this specialy since there will a 4 doors version of it (Spyshots). Or they will make it so luxirious that it wil be in its own class? Great design in general. JLR is moving foward, Thanks Ford for the ideas, Thanks Tata for the budget!

At least it's not an X6 competitor. I would lose all respect of LR if it was. I couldn't handle another obese coupe with 2 door implants.
