Spy Photos: Facelifted Nissan GT-R Arrives at the 'Ring

gtr-face-f34-1600.jpg
Nissan promised from the very start that it would continuously improve the GT-R rather than wait for the traditional model refresh cycle. Up to this point, the improvements have been geared toward keeping the super coupe from self-destructing.

In this case, however, the GT-R appears to be getting some actual upgrades. That front air dam has been reworked a little and the rear diffuser has a new shape as well. There were both standard and Spec V GT-Rs at the track, so assume these are across the board changes.

Very nice. I'm a big fan of the GT-R and I can't wait to see what kind of effect these changes will have on the car's performance.

Being a fan, I love the GT-R. However, please reduce the weight of the car!

Nice, another incremental update, that will no doubt increase the price of the car by another 5-7k.

The little differences made all the difference. I love this car, and I am sure it will only have modest performance increases. However, I would this car over anything else. Unlike a BMW, this really is the ultimate driving machine.

I really don't get the GT-R's raison d'ĂȘtre beyond being the not-quite-rich guys answer to the Bugatti Veyron. Ugly, overweight and fast as hell, I guess that's enough for some people.

yes the car is heavy but for the weight of the car it still outruns many of its competitors and can out handle most cars on the track. I am sure Nissan could really chop some weight off of the car, but that would also make the car way more expensive. Maybe a rear wheel drive version to cut weight but that would reduce the traction and grip this car is so well known for. The car just works and works well there is not much use trying to really fix what really is not broken.

What about making a GT-R / Z blend? Maybe RWD & body of the Z with a de-tuned GT-R powerplant? The ultimate $60 toy.

@yellowmiata I definitely second that one. Talk about the ultimate tuner...everyone would have a field day with that

I'd love to see a low end GT-R. GT-S perhaps?

The current GTR is one of the ugliest cars on the road.
Let's hope the pics floating around the internet of the next redesgin that actually has curves and style comes ASAP.

I agree, the 3,900 curb weight is unacceptable. Godzilla needs to be put on a serious diet.

New looks, lower curb weight, and a lower price through higher production= WORLD BEATER

What Nissan really needs to do is install a transmission that requires a third pedal...

deathtollwrx says:

I agree on the clutch pedal.

I also agree that there should a less expensive (but still really fast) version for the masses. Rear wheel drive with same engine? How about one without all the LCD displays and stuff? Maybe one that we can fix up ourselves?

I hope they reduced weight on this car, or at least gave it more power! I'm a big fan of the GTR.
Please give it more power!
