We've seen this new Durango before, but at this angle and with this level of camouflage, we get our best look yet at the new midsize crossover.
The Durango has always been an odd-size vehicle as it was smaller than a Tahoe yet bigger than the Explorer or 4Runner. This time around it appears to have been shrunk down to typical midisze crossover size. Expect to see Chrysler's new Pentastar V6 under the hood and both two- and four-wheel drive versions.

I've always felt the Durango was odd-sized compared to the competion. For me personally I say ditch the third row, upgrade the tranny and interior and it might be something I'll consider.

@half_ton
it sounds like you are describing the JGC

The Durango is ugly, clumsy, slow, thirsty and unreliable. All the things smart car shoppers really look for in an automobile!! Good news is - the new model can only go up. Can't get any worse (or can it..).

@lostboyz
Very astute observation!!
It LOOKS like Jeep got it right with the interior; hopefully when I go drive one I'll be able to say for sure. It doesn't have a third row so they're batting 1.000 there. The tranny has room for improvement so we'll see . . .

Dodge considers the Durango to be a midsize? What's their fullsize?
No thanks, but I will take that gen 6 Accord coupe, though.

Dodge hasn't had a full size SUV since the Ramcharger. If you think the Durango is big, picture a closed in Ram as a full sized SUV.
I really liked the 1st gen Durango but I could never get used to the bloated looks of the 2nd gen.
I'll withhold judgement on this on until I see a production version.

It's funny how everything now is called a "crossover". That's an SUV, plain and simple.
And it looks plain...and simple...

If dodge was smart they would make this into the Dodge Journey
And the make the durango a larger suv with the Ram's face
like Toyota did with the Tundra and Sequoia
