Honda is presenting the new 2011 Odyssey via webcast today. We're putting up photos and information as soon as it comes in.
UPDATE: Odyssey will be V6 only. Honda says that a new three-mode VCM system will allow the Touring Elite model to get up to 28mpg on the highway.
UPDATE: No AWD. Honda says its research revealed that very few minivan customers need AWD.
UPDATE: The 2011 Odyssey will have more swagger than the new Sienna. Yes, they actually said that.

Honey, who broke the Odyssey?

Looks better than the concept.
So what tricks can the 2nd row seats do? Slide, kneel, fold?

Meh... It's kind of funky for a minivan. The interior does not look very different from what's being offered now, except it lost the cool flip down navigation system and dual glove box.
I think Toyota may have a better van with the current Siena, which incidentally I am seeing quite a few of on the road.
I guess I'll wait and see what the reviews say.

Looks fine up until the B pillar. Who ordered the BMW "flame surfacing?" At least the Harry Potter lightning flash isn't as bad as on the concept on the car show circuit last year. On the whole not as ugly as the new Sienna.

Ed: 28 mph on the highway? :)
Nice cargo space!
billt9 says:

I like the huge gaping sliding rail line that proudly states I'm a minivan.
billt9 says:

The 2nd row seats have to be lifted out to convert to cargo mode.
I hope the Quest keeps its kneeling seats.

I think it looks really good until the C pillar. After that, it looks like somebody attached a completely different vehicle to it.

things I like based on these photos:
the overall interior, those little triangular windows behind the A-pillar, the overall exterior design
things I dislike based on these photos:
from the first photo, the real door or the real quarter looks like it's out of place (perhaps it will look better, difference in person)
the interior door handle (gray plastic = cost cutting in a wrong way)
the "I want to be a MKT" tail lights setup
what's up with the side mirrors? I like them, yet I dislike them.

On the second picture from the sliding door rail down and back, does anyone else see Subaru Baja all day?

is that a sloping rear roof? reduced headroom in the 3rd row? One of the things I like the ody over the sienna is the room in the 3rd row. the exterior design is not as coherent as the new sienna which my neighbor has one. It's a shame, cause the current gen ody looks way better than it's counterparts. Now the new sienna looks more aggressive than this new ody. But I hope I don't have to drive a minivan anymore after I retire my ody in a few years
Can the "H" in the front gets any larger?

"Odyssey will be V6 only. Honda says that a new three-mode VCM system will allow the Touring Elite model to get up to 28mpg on the highway."
Wait, so you have to pay $40,000+ to get the decent highway fuel economy? Thanks, but I think I'll see what the Ford C-MAX and the new Mazda 5 have to offer first.

Crosstour grille and bottom door treatment AAAAAAHH!!!!!

Apparently one team designed from the C pillar forward, and another team designed the back end. I predict that the next generation of Honda's will actually spell out "HONDA" on the grill, much like the "FORD" on the Raptor.

I've always loved my Hondas and we currently own one...
...but for the love of all things cute and fuzzy, somebody please fire their current design team. This has to be one of the most disjointed things I've ever seen on 4 wheels. The kink at the C pillar, the gaping slash wound of a door track, the sloping rear roof (on a minivan???) and what's with the swingback mirrors that look like they came off a pickup?
How could any designer look at this and say, "Yup, good job team."
c230mike says:

That's terrible. What are they thinking??? Honda has lost all ability to create simple functional cars. Honda is getting closer to the ugly robotic Acura designs. What ever happend to the "Honda, We make it simple"???? WAKE UP HONDA!

"up to 28mpg on the highway"
When they preface the mpg rating with "up to", that's usually NOT the EPA highway rating.

This current Odyssey is the best looking van on the market. However this one is a total mess. The side doors look pulled-off of another vehicle like they don't fit. What retarded designer approved those industrial refrigerator door handles? The rear looks like it has a droopy diaper because the tail lamps are too low and align with the sliding door rail, of all things. The front grille looks plastic and cheap. I do like most of the interior, but not in the slate gray color. That color looks cheap in any vehicle. The shifter looks horrible jutting out of the dash. Why not do what Aston Martin does and just use buttons? And what is the purpose of an HDMI connection in a minivan? Fortunately, the Sienna redesign isn't good and the Chrysler minivans are actually uglier than both the Toyota and Honda. So maybe Honda has received a reprieve. But still, this is not good. Honda needs to get back into designing attractive vehicles, and not farm machinery like this.

gotta agree with others, the back third of the van must have been designed by someone who had never seen the rest of the van.
The Odyssey was one of the few good looking Hondas left and now it's gone.
Edmunds should get them in for an interview and ask if they really believe the current line up looks good.

ghills says:

That is the fugliest rear end I've seen since the olds achieva.
This POS is going to even take the pressure off Acura and their ridiculous chrome rhino noses!

What is it with Honda exterior styling?! They either do porridge-bland or fugly.
Interiors - great, engineering - great, engines - check, exterior styling - puke

back in '96 the caravan had a door rail integrated below the rear window to avoid having a gash in the sheetmetal. This 2011 model Honda cant manage that and looks ridiculous. NOt that this is the only reason it looks ridiculous. This is almost as ugly as the failed Nissan Quest from a few years back. The interior is a typical Honda button fest, although its taken to a new level here. I would imagine this thing weighs almost 5000lbs with the new technology. Does it have a 6 speed auto?
They barely changed the rear from the current model, it still looks dull and inexpensive.

Of course, that rear third looks tacked on (fugly).

Honda is cozying up to Ugly, and really exploring it! It's interesting they have to tout the robot and the jet, to remind us that they can make cool stuff. Just not cars.

The exterior design isn't great, but that wouldn't have been a deal-breaker. I'm not looking for incredible good looks in a minivan. I do care about utility/features and a good, comfortable and usable interior. As such, I am disappointed by (1) the lack of AWD or 4WD as an option and (2) the fact that the 2nd row has to be removed for the vehicle to work in "cargo mode" (if true).

I thought the Chrysler/Dodge mini's looked a little plain when they were recently redesigned, but this Honda and the the Toyota Sienna are bizarre. The Honda, when viewed from your side/rear shot looks like it got part way through a car crusher and then rescued. The front end on the Toyota "SwaggerMoblie" looks like it got pinched in a giant vise - in real life it looks awful.
Japanese auto styling has degenerated to uninspired hideous just to be different. I encountered an Accura ZDX yesterday and the thing startled me with it just plan ugliness. Quality wise Japanese cars may be the greatest thing ever (actually they aren't as everyone is coming to learn, ie Toyota's multi-problems, Honda transmissions, etc) - but hey, if you are gonna buy it, it might as well look nice. This one dosen't - who said "Honda Aztec"?

The MOPAR twins may be a bit boxy but they look worlds better than any van from Japan. It is a family car not a moon buggy...why make it look so strange? My neighbors have a 09 Town and Country in White Gold and the tan interior with light wood inlays and it is really nice inside....
