BMW's chief of sales and marketing, Ian Robertson, confirmed this week that the production verison of the BMW Concept Gran Coupe that debuted in Beijing will go on sale in the second quarter. Look for it to wear the 6 Series badge, he said, and count on there being a M6 version during the model cycle.
German spy photographers have run across plenty of 6 Series coupe and convertible prototypes lately, and if you compare the Gran Coupe photos to the latest shot (after the jump, man, after the jump) of the next 6 Series convertible, well, there is indeed a resemblance...
Funny thing is the Concept Gran Coupe got plenty of thumbs up, while none of you seem to like the camo'd 6 Series prototypes. Care to explain that?

6 series looks like a Camry Solara that worked out a bit. Just ugly. Awful car from front to back, inside and out.

I've always thought of the 6-series as a worthless GT. That looks pretty good, though. Maybe it's the paint.

I love the 6 series, even if the current model is ugly. I feel like it says "hey look at me im a big expensive totally awesome coupe/convertible" every time I see one drive by (i could be crazy)
now its gonna look like THAT? hell yes

estreka: If you mean by worthless a very fast comfortable and safe coupe and or convert that turns heads and gets thumbs up wherever it goes, then I would tend to agree with you. This car eats up highway miles, and fits my luggage plus a guest. Thats what a true GT is designed to do.
blueguydotcom: Taste is subject and its appears to me that your lacking it. The materials in the 6 are first rate and high quality. My heads up display is awesome. The thrust provided by the engine is wonderful.
I assume from both of these ignorant statements, you have never driven a 6 or spent any significant amount of time behind the wheel. It is a great car.
