Infiniti to Introduce Two New Models This Fall

infiniti-m-future-1600.jpg

Infiniti officials told an a group of journalists yesterday that it would use the annual Pebble Beach weekend to introduce two new models that would go on sale this fall. Judging from the sketches, one of them is likely to be an M coupe similar to the one we showed you last week.

And the other? Well, we would bet on a production version of the Essence show car. It's been championed by plenty of top executives at the company and the announcement said only one of these cars would be a "volume seller." That leaves the door open for a halo car like the Essence and its ultra-expensive hybrid drivetrain.

I liked the M coupe rendering. It's no E-Class coupe, but it sure beats the 6 series.

I thought that Infiniti was going to introduce the G25 (don't know about the other vehicle)....

Having an M-coupe & an Essence would be a bad idea. A G25 sounds good, though.

I hope it's the Essence, but I doubt that if the sketches are an indication. Then, I could dream of that instead of an XKR, and actually pretend I could pay for maintenance!

I'd be embarrassed to introduce a cheapie version of an existing and old model at Pebble Beach. That makes me think Essence & M Coupe,or M Coupe & Hi-po M Coupe,or M Coupe & M Convertible.

Watch it be a 4-door Wagon "coupe" and a 2-door SUV coupe!

Both of these sketches are of existing models. G sedan and G Coupe. I don't think you can tell what the models will be from these sketches. I agree with roar02ram, Infiniti won't release a G25 at Pebble Beach...they know better than that.

Maybe a G25 hybrid?

Whatever it is, it looks like my future next car!
I bet it can smoke a Ferrari 599 FXX.

How about a new Q? Does anyone miss the Q?

Miss it? Heck; a precious few barely remember it ever existed. I doubt that Infiniti will be coming out with a new Q anytime soon (if at all....)

I just realized that "street/rolling start" acceleration for the new M56 is 4.7 sec. That's on par with the XFR or X6M (of the numbers that I know of). A coupe version should smoke even 911's if you simply stomp the gas at a green. Meaning -- I'd love to see the M coupe if that engine is in it!

@ejsimon

:sniff: I had a 1991 Q45 and a 2000 Q45. I sure do miss the Q, but there isn't a strong enough market right now for Infiniti to dip its feet back into the pool of full size luxoyachts.
