The "Poor" Man's Porsche Panamera

panamera-v6-r34-1600.jpg
Well, "poor" is relative term here as the V6-powered Panamera 4 you see here will start at around $80,000. Still, it represents about a $10K price cut over the base V8 model.

Porsche figures there are enough buyers who simply don't care if they have a V8 or not, so a V6 Panamera was an obvious addition to the lineup. Can't blame them on that one, although we can't imagine having a sedan this big and heavy with a 3.6-liter V6 even if it does produce 300-horsepower.

for all the s-class, 7 series, and LS's out there; It will be refreshing to see a few of these around...assuming the BMW and Mb don't beat it out.

The Panamera's the best luxury sedan ever.
Way more luxurious than the S-Class or the 7-series.
I'm saving up for one next.

I'm sure they will sell a lot of them and thus I can see why they would do it. For me though the only reason to buy the car is the incredible performance of the top of the line engine.

I wouldn't buy it just for the looks.

Nor would I. I'd buy it for the way it drives, even if it is "merely" a 6-cylinder.

In fact...

Because it is a 6-cylinder it may be more engaging to drive, in that you would be more inclined to "row the paddle shifters" more so than with the mega-horsepower V8 models. :)

I'll have to give you that one. Like most people I have never driven one and barring a lottery win I'm not sure I will ever justify one in the budget.

Maybe if the 6 came with a manual trans.... :)

Never would have guessed that someday I'd see a beige, 4-door Porsche with a V6 at an autoshow.

I don't care that this is cheaper than the V8. An entry-level Porsche for me is still going to be a used Porsche.

Placed an order for Panamera V6 (build date May 20). They initially accepted a 6-speed manual order (available in Europe). Got a call last week from the dealer it will have to be a PDK...
