Kind of surprised that the Cadillac XTS Concept wasn't getting much love at the Beijing Auto Show. We noticed a similar lack of attention to the Cadillac brand at the Geneva Auto Show, but we figured it was just the Europeans being snobby.
The Chinese love big, American sedans and the XTS is about as big and flashy as it gets these days. Still, the stand was pretty desolate most of the day while the Buick and Chevy setups were quite full. Go figure.

Buick and Chevy are a piece of good old middle-class Americana. No matter what they do, Cadillac will always reflect in-your-face wealth that alienates others.

But don't the Chinese also love, Bentleys, Rolls Royces and Ferraris? Talk about in-your-face-wealth.

Maybe they just collectively find "Art & Science" ugly. I know I don't care much, one way or the other, about the XTS. Perhaps the Chinese simply realize it's a heavily gilded Buick. Or could be that Cadillac represents "Capitalist American Imperialism" to them more than Chevy, Buick or Ford and definitely more so than Rolls or Bentley. *shrug*

gm just can't get branding correct. obviously the chinese like buick...americans thinks buick is their grandfather's car. internationaly gm should have chevy opel buick..north america should have chevy opel cadillac.. get rid of buick and gmc. no one under 50 buys a buick...opel would bring a new vibrant name... most of buicks new cars are designed from opel anyway...

Perhaps they have not heard GM paid back their "loan".

That is odd, since it seems every feature on the XTS screams "The Chinese will love this!" I think the idea that the Chinese may just not like Cadillac as a brand and prefer Buick for their luxury might explain it.
And fordguy, the newer Buick products are bringing in a pretty good number of buyers younger than 50. The average buyer age for Buick is rapidly falling.

Speaking of "No Love", why is Inside Line completely ignoring the debut of the new Hyundai Accent at Beijing? It's not even an entry for it on IL's main page for the Beijing show.

Should this be any surprise coming from the people that brought you the Geely Excellence sedan? If they think THAT looks good, then this car would be pure ugly to them. That said, maybe the whole art/science theme is getting played out now.
