Nissan isn't going to go out and design a whole new platform for the upcoming Infiniti electric vehicle -- not when it has the perfectly good Nissan Leaf platform. An earlier report suggested that Infiniti's EV will have better performance that the Leaf, and today an Automotive News report (via AutoWeek) suggests it will have better styling, too.
Early designs for the Infiniti were reportedly turned down for looking insufficiently upscale -- and too much like the Leaf.
AN quotes Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti for North America, as saying the company is now down the final four possible designs for the Infiniti EV. Any of these, he suggested, will result in a "uniquely Infiniti product."

The design could only improve

Sorry, not trying to be a vocab-Nazi or anything, but, "...Infiniti's EV will have better performance THAN the Leaf..."

Infiniti should make it as a competitor to the Audi A3, the BMW 1 and the Lexus CT200H as they (Infiniti) don't have real engines to compet with those TDI and Hybrid.
I wanted to buy an electric car but I did not like the design of the leaf, so now I am thinking of the coming CT200H but if this upscale design from Infiniti is in the low 30K after tax rebate, I will go fo itr.
