I don't think this is going to turn out very good for Volvo. They have too much history for being well mannered, style challenged, and almost overkilling-ly safe cars to do a 180 like this.

It's hard to differentiate yourself in today's ultra-competitive car market. So many cars offer safety and performance that it's hard to corner the market with any particular attribute. Cars just have to be stellar on so many levels, these days.
