Tonight in Geneva, the ever-growing, all-powerful Volkswagen group threw its annual extravaganza. This year it included one celebrity, nine new cars and several mentions of Suzuki, which VW added to its list of brands recently. It also included Porsche for the first time, which showed a sports car for the ages, the 918 Spyder Hybrid. Other brands showing off rides this year were Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda and VW.
The celeb I mentioned was pop sensation Justin Timberlake, who drove the Audi A1 onstage and then did a few minutes of uncomfortable banter with the attractive female host. When she asked him why he was there acting as chauffeur for Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, Timberlake, looking like he didn't really want to be there said something like, "Because Rupert pays well." The entire room sorta did a "oh no you didn't." Good times.
Then they rolled out a few more cars. Pics are on the next page.
The man. It was his party.
Benley Continental Supersports Convertible. Notice it has rear seats. The Supersports coupe does not. Bentley says it's the fastest four-seat convertible in the world.
Bugatti 16C sedan. Still a concept for now. But if this Veyron-powered four-door does go into production, Bugatti says it will be the fastest sedan in the world.
Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera. Lambo claims a 325-km/h top speed and a 3.4-second 0-100 km/h time for this lighter and more powerful Gallardo.
Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid. 500-plus hp. Mid-mounted V8. Plug-in hybrid.
Nothing short of epic.
Seat IB E. It's electric. 102 hp. Seat says it's for young people in big cities. It's also a concept.
VW Amarok. A biturbo diesel-powered pickup for Europe and South America.
Skoda Fabia RS. Hot-rod version of the Fabia. Skoda claims a 220-km/h top speed.
VW Sharan. It's a minivan. They say not for America.

Why is the Amarok not coming to America? No one offers a high mpg small diesel truck here?!!? I want one now! All you full-size truck buyers want, need, and have full size trucks. Yes, we know small trucks cannot do the same work, but many of us don't want more than we need- and the mpg on the other offerings suck too.

Atrank - You may want a high MPG diesel pick-up truck but a majority don't. The Amarok isn't a small pick-up, it's a large pick-up - measuring in excess of 5m.
I wonder how it's going to fair up against the hugely popular Nissan Navara/Frontier, Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
