Yep, up front and that's if you're deemed worthy of even paying the money. That's what happens when demand outstrips supply, especially in the world of exotic supercars.
Toyota says it has more interest than cars, so it's imposing a somewhat draconian lease program that will weed out any buyers who aren't really, really interested in driving an LFA.
All LFAs will be leased to start. It's a two-year program so the final price will be around $300,000. Sounds pricey, but that's a whole Nissan GT-R off sticker price. Should you want to continue driving your LFA, you can pay a buy out fee at the end, one which includes penalties for excessive mileage and wear.
If this all sounds ridiculous, that's because it is. Not that it's going to stop Toyota from selling all 500 LFA it plans to produce. Only 150 are headed to the U.S. and they are way more than 150 rich guys who want to get their hands on one at any price.

The more I read about these over engineered cars, the more I don't want one.

So you pay for excessive miles even if you keep the car? WTF?
That ranks right up there with the 'Buyer's Premiums" that auction houses have successfully foisted off on customers allowing them to get paid coming and going as it were.

What surprises me is the FR layout, which Toyota says was intentional to make the limits more accessible. Why, then, does Chevy keep talking about taking the Corvette "upscale" to mid-engine to better compete with exotics? The opposed philosophies are interesting to me.

jederino,
That's strange. a 599 GTB costs twice as much as a F430/458.
