Infiniti Hits the Big "20", Rolls Out New Anniversary Gs To Celebrate

anniversaryg-f34-2-1600.jpg

Hard to believe it's been 20 years since Infiniti showed up in America with a bunch of fancy new Nissans. Yet, here we are in 2010 and the brand is still doing quite well. In fact, so well that it decided to commemorate its two decades in America with an anniversary edition of the G sedan, coupe and convertible.

Like most anniversary edition cars, there's not much substance here. All 800 cars (300 sedan, 250 each of the coupe and convertible) will wear Graphite Shadow paint and Monaco Red interiors. Unique wheels, summer performance tires and mildly revised front fascias are also standard on all versions as is a blacked out grille. Heck, the coupe and sedan even get a rear spoiler.

Clearly none of this stuff is enough to warrant a G purchase alone, but if you're already in the market for one it might be worth taking a look. Maybe they'll be worth something, someday. Or not.

Considering that Infiniti was just barely making it before the 2003 G35 came out, I can see why they'd want to release an "Anniversary Edition". That said-

"...Maybe they'll be worth something, someday. Or not."

A BIG NOT. A few standard options and an "Anniversary Edition" designation does precious little to separate this from the regular Gs.

Can anyone name an Anniversary Edition of anything that has gone on to become collectible? With the restriction that the non-Anniversary Edition vehicle is not equally collectible.

There may be one or two, but I can't think of any.

Love the leather color, but the standard wheels are so good looking and don't need replacement.

Nissan, please see the Corvette carbon on the next page for an example of how to do a special edition right. Otherwise, refer to felonious' post. That is all.

felonious, I thought I did, but you made me do a little digging. I managed to nullify what I thought were candidates.
