A Visit to the AMG Performance Studio

special-order-group.jpg Although its name might imply it's all about tuning, the AMG Performance Studio in Affalterbach, Germany is really about personalization. Sure, it can take your AMG and add bigger brakes, more power or a revised suspension, but the craftsmen can also add a new interior, upgraded audio system or a custom color for the exterior.

The two cars above are perfect examples. Both are owned by the same customers who requested unique exterior color and interior to match. He also wanted six tailpipes and his initials on the headrests. If you can afford it, and it doesn't require additional crash testing, the AMG Performance Studio will build it for you. More pics after the jump.

This customer wanted an SL will no chrome, so the technician is replacing every single chrome part with a black-painted version. Note, the three-pointed star on the grille was left alone, house rules.

Someone has way too much money. The top two cars are ostentatious, with ugly interiors. But that white SL is nice.

I'm with you on the interiors. However, if you have the money, why would you want the same interiors, same exteriors as anyone else that bought one.
If you have the money to buy one of these, then you have the money to make it your own. I know I sure as hell would...minus the female blue...and the 6 tailpipes. But I'm sure I could come up with some pretty interesting stuff.

Six tailpipes? What a loser. Only the Avant-garde will know to have 12 tailpipes.

The blue interior ... they forgot the windshield wipers!

How heavy are those seats? The base looks massive.

It's nice the know the money of the stupid rich is going to provide a nice income for talented car guys.

As for the owners , they couldn't think of anything better to spend it on????

So house rules say the worthless emblem stays chrome? How long will that last before he has it replaced? Silly rule...

I agree with the house rule, no mucking with the 3-pointed star. That represents more than 100 years of M-B's history. Of course if the owner wants to he could swap it out later, that's not the point.

"How heavy are those seats? The base looks massive."

Very. Those buttons aren't even primary the seat controls. They're just for the extended adjustments and the pulse/massage/lumbar functions.

+1 lovin the white one.

I love that white one. How could they allow the six tailpipes though? That looks extremely cheesy.

That F1 safety car is sweet though. The lucky bastard that gets to drive that....

I would order an all black SL63, no chrome, and do a red and black interior. red carpets, alcantara headliner, etc.

I guess money can't buy taste.

Great call on the blacked-out trim, though!
