wreckage-717.jpg
Details are pretty sketchy at the moment, but a small plane owned by a high-ranking engineer at Tesla Motors crashed into a Palo Alto neighborhood after takeoff.

Three people were on board the small plane, but Tesla officials have yet to confirm if any of the three are in fact Tesla employees. Expect to hear more shortly.

UPDATE: Elon Musk has confirmed that the three people on board the plane were Tesla employees, but did not give any indication who they were.

Statement from Elon Musk:

"Three Tesla employees were on board a plane that crashed in East Palo Alto early this morning. We are withholding their identities as we work with the relevant authorities to notify the families. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Tesla is a small, tightly-knit company, and this is a tragic day for us."
