Spy Photos: The Aston Martin Cygnet Lives

cygnet-f34-spy-1600.jpg
We all sort of hoped it was just some cruel joke, but as you can see here the Aston Martin Cygnet is still on track for production. In case you missed it before, the Cygnet is a warmed over Toyota iQ minicar that Aston Martin intends to sell along side its six-figure supercars.

Initially, only owners of the real Aston Martins will be able to purchase a Cygnet. The idea is to give Aston owners a tarted up city car to use when necessary knowing full well they still have a proper sports car waiting at home. Yeah, whatever.

It's still a cruel joke...and it's been taken too far.

It's kind of cute... but imagine all those chavs and chavettes buying them in the 2nd hand market and ruining the brand.
Unless AM forbids private 2nd hand sales in their contract, that is (similar to Ferrari)... which is probably what will happen.

I understand Aston's reasoning for building the Cygnet to lower their fleets CAFE rating and only selling it to current owners; I just hope they don't start selling the it to the mass market.

Perfect 2-car garage--V8 Vantage for the weekend, this cute little car for commuting.
Maybe a beater SUV for winter driving and hauling stuff.

It just feel right knowing it's just a tarted up Toyota iQ. It's okay when it's going from a Lexus to a Toyota, but an Aston?

Umm... Forgot a "doesn't" in my comment:
