Late last year Dodge revealed much of its future product plan to journalists in an effort to prove it had a future. Part of that plan was a revamped version of the Dodge Charger due in late 2010.
Although it's not slated to be a complete redesign, the 2011 Dodge Charger will be a heavy reskin along with the introduction of Chrysler's new V6 family. This prototype was spotted recently testing in Michigan and the changes are noticeable.
This car looks much closer to the Charger concept shown a decade ago at the Detroit auto show. Expect an updated interior as well as Dodge attempts to generate a little interest in the brand while the rest of Chrysler tries to hold on until the Fiat vehicles start arriving in 2012.

Look at the rear roofline, apparently Chrysler thinks only children and small adults ride in the back seat of its cars. Yet another large sedan where I will hit my head on the roof/rear window. Man I miss the G8.

I'm 6'6 and have plenty of room in the back of the current Charger and 300. I'm really looking forward to seeing the new LX cars.

Actually they have a lot of new models and redesigns over the next 2 years. They have 3 vehicles coming out just this year. Not sure why everyone is hyped about these new small Fiats coming in 2012- they aren't going to save Chrysler unless all the models that come before them get traction. Contrary to media's proclamations Chrysler actually does have new and refreshed product coming starting with the JGC.

Actually I thought the cross-hair grille was a nice design element. I hope they fix the awkward rear 3/4 angle and brake light design. And I really hope they lose the decklid spoiler.

1487 - I usually agree with a lot of what you write but on this I disagree. The Jeep GC is new but whatelse? Anything to compete against the new Ford Fiesta, new FOcus, heavily updated Taurus and Fusion. That is just Ford and 18 months. Chrysler has no sub-compact, no viable compact (Caliber is crap), no viable mid-size (Sebring and Avenger were DOA) and aging full size cars which are being updated. Well one out of four!
They have two years to go and I agree Fiat's new cars will not be a saviour since they will be niche models.
Chrylser/Dodge needs a viable compact car, mid-size car, small SUV, crossover to compete against a resurgent Ford and GM never mind Hyundai and the others.

I don't understand why they didn't make the first one like the concept (pictured in red). They would have been ahead of the whole coupe styled sedan thing (since they insisted on giving a Charger 4 doors.)

Based on what I've read the Minivans, Sebring and Avenger will be heavily revised in 2011. The 300, charger and a 7 seat crossover will be ALL NEW as will the JGC. In addition, they have made interior changes to their small crossovers. They will be lacking in small cars (except 500) for a while but the rest of their lineup is getting attention and the Ram is new. New platforms dont mean squat to buyers- they think the fusion is "all new" so suggesting that new cars on Fiat platforms will get people running to showrooms doesn't make much sense. If you fix the interiors of the Sebring/Avenger and tweak the styling they will APPEAR to be new cars and thats all that counts. Supposedly new powertrains are being incorporated as well.

@flicmod & others: Chrysler's upcoming vehicle lineup was revealed in exhaustive detail during that marathon press conference they gave a couple of months ago. I read the entire press release from that event, and I have to say I was somewhat encouraged. Most Chrysler vehicles ride on decent platforms, so all that's really needed are new powertrains, and high-quality interior and exterior refreshes, all of which are coming (according to the press release).
Chrysler knows what it's up against. It remains to be seen whether or not they actually pull it off, but like I said...I was encouraged. The Fusion is basically a case-study in how a refresh can turn a car's fortunes around. Hell, so is the Escape.

"@1487 - "heavily revised"?!? What does that mean? And what are your sources?"
Google it. Chrysler released details and timetables for their models several months ago. The midsize sedans are supposed to get heavily updated interiors and upgraded powertrains. That will go a long way towards making the models more appealing. A new platform doesnt mean squat. How often do Toyota or Honda switch to new platforms? Rarely and yet people gobble up their offerings. If you make a car LOOK new it is new in the eyes of the customers. What does "revised mean"? Look at the Fusion.
Bottom line is over the next 18-24 months Chrysler has a lot of new or revised products. If the 2009 Ram is an indication of where they are going I think they should not be counted out. They certainly have shown they can design a better interior than Honda or Toyota when they really try- the new JGC looks good as well and has more tech than any comparable Toyota/honda product.

After going to the 2010 Harrisburg PA Auto show and sitting in cars from each and every carmaker (except SAAB who wasnt there...haha) I have to say that Chrysler's cars were the worst interiors i encountered. This was not surprising. The Sebring, Avenger, and Journey were just bad. It was not good times in there. Ergonomics, material quality... it was all sub-par. To those defending Chryslers progress.... save your breath.
The Buick Lacrosse however blew me away. It was tight in there. And i dont mean fit-and-finish tight (it was that too) I mean...tight like they mean it on the streets. Sh*t was tight yo.

@isaacl: I definitely agree with you on the interior situation. Chrysler/Dodge seems to think they can steal our attention away from the poor quality of their interiors by giving us clever little storage compartments and coolers in the gloveboxes. In all honesty though, the I found the interiors livable for me. I don't require much obviously....and I do still desperately desire at Caliber SRT-4 haha. But as 1487 said, they are lacking competitive vehicles in most classes. I'm hoping what they've got coming down the pipe is much more solid. Ford especially is putting up some impressively stiff competition.
I too was impressed with the Buick Lacrosse in every facet, but especially the interior. I mean my God, they nailed that thing! Did you sit in the backseat? Tons of room. Front seat was the same way and all the ergonomics just worked. My hand wants the gear shift and it's right there. Radio and Navi at my finger tips. No fumbling around for anything. It was just right. And the materials were very nice. Even if they weren't of the highest quality, they didn't feel or look cheap and that's good enough for me.

I'm pretty sure Chrysler knows its older interiors need work (same can be said for Toyota) and that is what they plan to do. The Ram is an example of what they will be doing from this point forward and its impressive. I think everyone knows the midsize sedans are lacking inside and that will be addressed. Every automaker has the capability of doing better and Chrysler knows interiors have been weak lately. Have you seen the pics of the JGC? Very nice inside.

@double-duece- Couldn't agree more about the LaCrosse interior. I had no qualms whatsoever about it. Puts the ES350 to shame, and I honestly don't think any other manufacturer has anything to compete with the quality and fit-n-finish of it. I only wish I could've taken it out for a drive and seen how it felt on the road.

hell yeah i sat in the back. the rear-facing vents in the pillars?....awesome....the swoopy armrests above the door handles?....class! I really loved it. I still wouldn't buy the damn thing because buying GM would compromise my current moral and ethic system....but the Lacrosse was very very good.

The guy who is in charge has said he knows interior designs have to be improved. Do you understand the midsize sedans are almost 3 years old? My point is the NEW designs will show an improvement as shown by the Ram. Not sure what else has to be explained. A 2011 model (which you haven't seen BTW) that is based on a 2008 redesign doesn't tell you anything about the current design philosophy at Chrysler.
misterfusion says:

Chrysler's interiors may be the "worst" in their respective classes, but as I discovered at the L.A. Auto show, the other automakers have set the bar really low. The interior of the $28k Venza may look attractive, but its dashboard was just as rock-hard as the $16k Caliber's. That story was repeated as I looked at all of the automakers' displays. I still think that dollar-for-dollar, the Malibu has one of the best interiors around.
I agree about the LaCrosse. That was the car of the show, as far as I was concerned. Beautiful inside & out, and it had more rear legroom than the massive Taurus and MKS.
