Since a bunch of pics and a little bit of info on the Audi RS5 leaked out over the weekend, the company decided to just go ahead and give up the rest. So here you have another set of official pics and we can confirm that this new super coupe will be powered by 4.2-liter V8 of the FSI variety.
Audi says it's closely related to the V10 in the top of the line R8, so figure its just like that lovely piece with a couple cylinders lopped off. Power is still substantial though, with ratings of 450 horses at 8,250rpm and 317 pound-feet of torque at 4,000rpm. It's a routed though a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and a quattro system with torque vectoring technology.
The heavily revised suspension results in a near one-inch drop in ride height compared to a standard A4. All RS5s will ride on standard 19-inch wheels with 265/35 tires at each corner. A set of 20-inch wheels is optional along with carbon ceramic brakes. Audi's Drive Select adjustable suspension is part of the package as well and on the RS5 it adds adjustable exhaust flaps that open things up a bit when in Dynamic mode. Nice. More pics next page.

Love that extra touch of Ur-Quattro style. Audi just keeps making it harder to keep to my "I'll never own a third one" stance.

Looks very good. Not too flashy. Not sure about the matte silver front and rear diffusers but I'm sure that they're grow on me.

whats with all the cut outs under the lights, usually there is like one under each headlight but there is a bunch of them? hmmmmmmmmmmm....

itm1221: The third "cut out" is for the tow hook (the ones directly under each headlight would be the pop-out headlamp washers).
Looks like another home run for Audi... depending on the price/performance ratio (price/performance in same ballpark with GT-R would be a win for Audi, I think).

No manual trans?!? That rots.

Now that is one good looking Audi. If they can keep the price relatively low, this will be a guaranteed success. I am a bid sad about the lack of a manual transmission. If the R8 V10 has one, why can't this?!

It's no wonder why Audi continues to get conquest sales. The visual appeal is so good whereas the rest of the industry has generally gone downhill. I'd go as far as to say Audi makes better looking cars than Ferrari. They're certainly right up there with Aston Martin.

I agree Audi has some great style. This one is no exception.

Gorgeous car, but it looks a little too much like a Dodge Charger with that very similar spoiler in the up position - the proportions are very similar. Still, this is one sexy beast!
Is it coming to the states??!

Is that a pop-up rear spoiler in the first pic?

No 6-speed manual.
Torsen ditched for a clutch pack
Overpriced (expect well into 70k to start)
probably really damn heavy.
Is Audi trying to build a GT-R here?
I love how it looks, I love the engine update and the seats, but it looks like my A4 will still be getting replaced with an RS4 or M3.

107 hp per liter, not too shabby, huh?

Audi did a great job-I'm glad that they are using the V8, which has always seemed to be underutilized with more potential and a better balanced and cost-effective way to develop the A-5 into a true M-3 fighter at a reasonalble (one hopes) price.

it should be an awesome engine, but if I were Audi, i would be putting the Audi lift system on the engine to this engine (well, all of its engines) to give it a nice torque boost. if the 2.0T can gain 11 hp and 68 lb-ft, i would imagine that large engines like the 4.2 L V8, the 3.2L V6, the 5.2L V10, and especially the 3.0T V6 would see healthy bumps in both regards as well. this is a general statement though, not just concerning this motor.
