This is a shout out to all of our readers in the Southern California area. There's a new racetrack on the verge of final approval and those involved are asking for help.
The proposed facility is called Fairmont Butte Motorsports Park and it would be built in Palmdale about 60 miles north of L.A. You can get all the details on the Fairmont Butte Motorsports Park website.
The last public hearing is scheduled for this Saturday at the Lancaster Public Library, anyone that can attend and show support would help immensely. You can also help the cause by submitting a letter or email of support to the County of Los Angeles.

While I'm generally all for a new racetrack in So Cal, do they *really* have to build it right next to Willow Springs??

How about something in eastern San Diego county, or Imperial? Lots of land there that I bet you can get for cheap, no neighbors to complain, and easier for us San Diego guys to access. The rest of CA has racetracks pretty much covered, between Willow, Laguna Seca, Sears Point, and Buttonwillow.

Have you ever tried to rent Willow? Do you like the garages and the amenities? Willow has not kept up with the recent racetrack trend in which nice garages, food, shelter and decent pits are part of the deal. Willow is more often than not a hot, chapped-lips experience.

I wish we were getting a nice track in the Seattle area!

I've been to Willow once or twice, and agree that it's a bit run-down and behind the times. I'm all for a new race track. I just don't see why it has to be right next to an existing one, that's all.

Fairmont Butte? Was Zephyr Boob already taken? Who names these things...
