2012 Lexus LFA Priced at $375,000 -- For Real

2011_lexus_lfa_actf34_fe_3_1600.jpg

Maybe you didn't want to believe that a Lexus could cost almost 400 grand, but Lexus has confirmed this week that the 2012 LFA will indeed retail for exactly $375,000, not including destination. The 150 cars slated for the U.S. (out of a 500-unit production run) will be available on a two-year lease with an option to buy.

Production begins in December 2010. Although each LFA will be hand-built to suit the customer, Lexus plans to sell them in three basic package configurations in the good old Toyota tradition.

Configuration 1: Leather or Alcantara-trimmed seats.
Configuration 2: Leather or Alcantara seats, Lexus Navigation System and Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound system.
Configuration 3: Leather or Alcantara seats, nav system, Mark Levinson sound system and Lexus Enform with Safety Connect.

Interestingly, Lexus says all of these configurations are included in the MSRP. In other words, you don't have to pay extra for nav and Mark Levinson -- you just have to decide if you want them weighting down your supercar.

Other decisions to make: Choose one of 30 paint colors (some of which may carry additional cost), one of 6 brake caliper colors, one of 3 wheel finishes for the 20-inch forged BBS wheels, and one of 12 interior colors.

That's just peachy. Where's the Celica?

I hope Lexus doesn't plan on continued production. At that price, I can't see the LF-A delivering.

Btw, is it LF-A or LFA?

Concept car was LF-A. Production car is LFA. K thx buh bye. Heh.

I wouldn't worry about "weighting down your supercar" because the price substantially lightens your pockets.

A cynic would say that the only reason Lexus is offering the lease option is because that is the only way they can move them.
They're betting that 2 years from now the economy would have improved enough to make them more 'attainable', or the LooFA will be off everyone's radar so no-one notices Lexus taking a bath on them.

Good thing I'm not a cynic.
;p

people keep panning the LFA for its development costs, but it is an investment in Toyota's future. It is a bridge between technology that was started in F1 and technology for the car's of the masses.

the technology used in this car can be used in other cars. while much of the technology here is based on speed, with some revision the engine technology can be used for increased fuel efficiency, the aerodynamics can be pulled directly over, along with the materials.

Should have been called LMFAO!

I've been a longtime fan of Lexus. But this time? You idiots!!! Maybe you HAVE to charge this much to recoupe development/production costs, but COME ON! Not only have you priced this car out of Lexus/BMW/Mercedes/Audi range, you're out of "Ferrari" range!(unless this is an Enzo-ish performing car). I would have predicted this car with a V-10 to come in pricewise comparable to the 10 cylinder Audi R8. Not sure what Toyota is aiming for here.

Okay, reading about the technology in "10 Things..." makes me like this car a little more.

Insane that toyota simply doesn't allow people to order cars. Cost cutting on a super car = silly. The kinds folks who burn 400k on a car aren't gonna balk if you want to charge another 10k for purple leather and 15k for a special wheels.

majin_ssj_eric says:

You guys really don't understand the concept of supply and demand do you? There will only be 500 LFA's made. Period. They could charge more than $375k for them and they'd still all be sold before any car is even sent down the production line. Even at that price Toyota will lose millions on the LFA. That isn't the point...

LOL @ ergsum!

This makes me want the GT-R that much more. ;)

carl0ver says:

not much fuss should be made over the price or how the car is delivered because isnt lexus choosing who the car is sold to? and assuming thats true, its probably selected all 150 of the potential customers already

This thing looks like a cheap kit car. Good thing it has carbon fiber A-pillars and a playstation dashboard. Because, y'know, that makes it worth 400 G's. Toyota is completely lost.

rsuryase says:

I'll consider getting it used for 150K in the future.

As to the LFA's pricing and overall intended owners...it just firmly goes to show that, this car and it's projected image is strictly catering to (not the common-man, Toyota loyalist or otherwise), but to the "elite". This car was never conceptualized to be "average-guy affordable", so why balk??
This is Toyotas vision of "supercar world and it's owners". As a obvious Nissan fan, our commitment was from day 1..."A supercar for anyone, anytime, anywhere", complete 180 of that of Toyotas. Perhaps Toyota will someday again offer up a SUPRA reincarnate that will be very obtainable, like the GT-R. Til then...I guess you get the finger from Toyota...and more recalls.
