2011 Nissan Juke Coming to 2010 Geneva, New York Auto Shows

2011_nissan_juke_1.jpg

Just about every major manufacturer sells a miniature SUV in Europe, and now Nissan will be among the first to launch one in the U.S. Following its world debut in Geneva, the 2011 Nissan Juke will head to the New York Auto Show. It goes on sale here this fall.

The Juke should be about the size of the Mini Countryman, which it will beat to market by a few months. Nissan's smallest SUV will undercut the Mini by thousands of dollars, of course, as Nissan will slot it into the lineup under the Rogue.

Platform architecture is shared with the Nissan Versa, so look for the 2011 Nissan Juke to offer the 1.8-liter inline-4, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Ok, the back looks alright. The side view looks fine too considering what it is. But what the f*** happened to the front? Whoever drew up the front end must have been smoking some serious stuff.

Holy Aztek! Should have been called the Nissan Joke.

Normally I think comparisons to the Aztek are irrational and exaggerated, but I think works this time. The Aztek and this thing are among the few cars in which the human mind have trouble seeing a face. It's got two pairs of eyes!

So wait...are the middle set of lights in the grille the headlights or are the upper set the headlights? If the upper lights are indeed the headlights, does it have two sets of fog lights? I'm confused.

They ripped off the back of the Volvo C30 already. May as well take the front while they're at it.

Aztek designers and engineers will no longer contemplate taking their own lives.

tp660, the back doesn't look alright. It's just that the front is so incredibly bad, anything looks OK compared to it.

How about Nissan Puke??

pat1usmc says:

Good. It looks different than everything else on the road. Anytime a new design comes out the internet posters all hate it and make "witty" comments about it. Designs evolve. How about we all still drive 1985 Volvos?

roadburner says:

It looks like an Aztec mated with a 2010 Mazdaspeed3...

And I thought the Murano was ugly! This takes the cake.

Sorry Nissan, I am going to pass on this one.

I just threw up.

horrible looking. Arent they already having trouble selling the ugly Cube?

It'd have looked OK if they didn't put those upper headlights on.

I'm with pat1usmc.... This thing is allright. Except for the lights on the hood which i dont quite understand... the front end is pretty cool. I'm not taken like i am on the new s60...but its refreshing. I give it a pass. The whole thing is pretty neat. Now, as for the concept of mini-SUVs....I'm not in that market so maybe i dont get it.

This thing is as ugly as Scion or Cube but people buy cars like this. I've always wandered how do the owners of those cars look like. I never had a chance talking to the either. I'm sure they are very interesting people.

The best element is the rear hatch, because it does remind me of the attractive Volvo hatch. The windshield rake is sporting, and the rear quarter treatment is interesting and muscular. I had to dig really hard to find some compliments here, because I'm partial to Nissan!

This thing made me laugh at first sight!
LOL

This car is very interesting and after looking at it, I like it. I don't usually like things like this. As always nissan wasn't afraid to do something different, and it works nicely. I think that the people who are searching in this class will really consider this. It stands out with the three sets of lights.

moparbad says:

I like the design. Did not like it when I viewed it this morning.

To me it is a very Japanese design. For some reason this car made me think of this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Os3C6S26iyE&feature=player_embedded

Pumy would drive the Juke.

Juke is goofy in a good way. It is not a train wreck like the Crosstour.

thejohnp says:

I think this car will definitely appeal to the target youth demo (i.e. Soul, Scion, Cube buyers). And personally, I think this has the same basic design elements from the typical Nissan crossover (Rogue/Murano) just slightly over exaggerated.

Ditto.

nissanfan90 says:

This crossover is going to rock. The word going around is that it may have a 1.6lt turbo engine giving it 188 hp. Thats no slouch in this class. The headlights on the hood are I believe signal lights. There are more than a few pictures of this car on the front with the lights on and the ones on the roof are not lit up. Just the fog lights on the bottom and the round headlights in the center. I can't wait until fall when it hits the Canadian shelves. As for the looks, I think it takes something from the back end of the Versa, the tail lights from the Maxima or 370Z, some from the Rogue and some from the Infiniti EX35. Hey thats just what I think though. But I know I will be the first in line to try one out.
