This sketch is an early tease of the 2011 Kia Optima that will make its world premiere at the 2010 New York Auto Show. We caught prototypes of the next-generation Optima awhile back and this rendering seems to fit with the shape of the test mules.
Kia says this Optima will be longer, lower and wider than the current model and go on sale in the U.S. in the fall. More sketches next page.

So with this current trend in auto design, when will visibility finally be phased out? 2015? 2020?

^^Yes, the windows will be replaced with situational monitors and alarms, just like a submarine. But a hot looking submarine.
I wouldn't go for anything with a tiny greenhouse. I'll be glad to see these on the road, as the aesthetic is fantastic, but I probably wouldn't buy it. Can designers imagine generous windows that look interesting? I think the Chrysler 300 really ignited this trend, aping hot rodders. And it looks good, just I want much greater visibility.

Admitting to the fact that recent sedan designs have clearly been flattering those trend-setting Mercedes Benz CLS's, I love how original Kia is being at the same time! Just look at the chrome detail that extends over the greenhouse from the A-pillar on back to the trunk, departing from the windows unlike so many other cars haven't dared try before.
Kinda reminds me how they kept the chrome trim running from the windows lower frame all the way to the headlights on the new Sonatas! I appreciate the originality!!
