I do admire the engineering but the style is nothing special and the price is just plain crazy.

They should have just made a new Supra to compete in the range of the GT-R.

Did the Loofa leave the track at about 1.20? Conveniently it cuts away there...

340,000GBP!!!!!!! At that price the car is absolutely not worth it.

While the car is amazing, the Hamster makes it plain it just isn't worth the price. But then, at $400k, what is? A house I would think.

Nice car. I want it for free.

That's an amazing engine. They should put it in the Corolla base trim. Then they would sell millions of them!

Speaking of the video itself, this is the best segment that Top Gear has ever done. The show typically has great production values, but the playful, anime-ish style here is just perfect for a car that looks like it came out of a Gundam series; the appearance of the UFO towards the end cracked me up.

stharward,

You're absolutely right. The production values and attention to detail on TopGear can't be beat. MotorWeek looks positively amateurish in comparison (on all levels).

I saw this clip and the first 2 things I thought were 1. The Spirit 2. A 4.XL V10?

Reality check.
This car isn`t worth it, no way.
6 times more expensive than a GT-R, but is it 6 times faster? Good question clarkson
HELL NO.

I'll just take the car for what it is -- that exhaust note is amazing. But it isn't as good as this:

At 6:25 of this Lexus test, the car's engine howls in response to what I imagine is a rev-matched gearshift. But I have never heard anything like that Lamborghini in the clip I attached.

Sure this car is too expensive but truly do admire their decision of making such a car. Even though it is not 6 times better than a GT-R but I'd take the LFA. This car was built with driver involvement in mind but it was also built with safety. Its a great blend for those hero's out there who do not use electronic nannies and for those who want a blast but feel confident. Would I buy it if I had the money? No, but there are many people out there that would. Just think about the Carrera Sport Classic, barely faster than a Carrera S but with a price tag higher than a GT2.

mazda, you would pay $540,000+ for the LF-A? That is absurd, you can buy an LP640, a GT-R, and an R8...beast, performance, and beauty...for that price.

mazda609 says:

@ rallyandbosox

The sentence before last said that I wouldnt buy the car, you must have missed that part. I would buy an LP640, GT-R, and a R8 instead of this overpriced Toyota.

anythngbutgm says:

Expensive? Absolutely. But at least Toyotas luxury division is starting to stray away from it't soft, luxury roots. The IS, IS-F and now this...

One only hopes that they transfer some of this enthusiasm towards more mainstream buyers with smaller wallets :)
