Nissan Motorsports, Nismo, that is, announced that it has finalized its partnership agreements with its two FIA GT1 teams for the 2010 season. Swiss Racing Team returns from 2009, while Sumo Power replaces Gigawave Motorsport, which closed down in December. Each team will field two R35 Nissan GT-Rs per FIA's GT1 regulations.
The actual racecar, the 2010 Nissan GT-R GT1, was unveiled last month at the Nismo Festival at Fuji Speedway in Japan. But Nissan has released a bunch more photos of the 2010 car today.
You can view full specs here, but the quick and dirty report on the GT-R GT1 is that it's rear-wheel-drive with a front-mounted 5.6-liter V8 making 600 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque and a six-speed (rear) transaxle. And this GT-R only weighs 1,250 kg, which is all of 2,755 pounds.

Personally I think they look better after the race. Tough to tell what looks meaner, this or Hondas HSV-10; I wouldn’t mind looking at either and these pictures are what I consider works of art. If only the LF-A could have been so beautiful. Now why can’t Honda release some photos like this for the HSV-10.

The origins of this GT-R can be traced back to an affair between Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper!

It's nice to support your favorite manufacturer in GT1 and GT2 racing, but it's nicer when you know that the car you're voting for shares some pieces with the one that you own or can buy. The whole technology moving from motorsport to the road thing.

I wonder if I can get a Nismo kit to hop-up my Titan's 5.6 like this one.
