NHRA Announces First Ever Four-Lane National Event

zmax-drags2-717.jpg
They call it zMax Dragway. It has four lanes instead of two. And for the first time in its short history it will host a NHRA national event. Dubbed the 4-Way Nationals, it will take place March 25-28.

An exhibition run was conducted in the fall and NHRA officials have been working ever since to figure out a format that would work for a true points-scoring event. There are a few special rules to compensate for the two extra lanes, but it should be quite the spectacle anyway.

Why not 6 or 8? What difference does it make?

Nothing but 100% pure distilled awesome. That's something like 30,000 horsepower unleashed all at once. But I've gotta wonder how my newly-purchased NHRA Mobile live timing iPhone app is going to handle it.

"That's something like 30,000 horsepower unleashed all at once." ..........yeah....and??? ;-)

I think it's a great idea - no more than 4 lanes though. Does the top 1 or 2 move on to the next round?
