Apparent Lamborghini Murcielago Successor Spotted at Arctic Circle

lamborghini_spyshot.jpg Lamborghini has taken its current Murcielago flagship just about as far as it can go, so we knew they had to be working on a successor. Not much is known at this point. The next car is still expected to use a V12 engine, but Lamborghini will have to find a way to get fuel consumption down, perhaps using direct injection.

Shooters never saw the doors open on this development mule, but they're almost certainly scissor-style -- a signature cue on the top Lambo. The architecture of the car underneath, though, may have more in common with the Gallardo (and the R8) than the current Murcielago.

We're not expecting to see an official unveil of this car for at least another year, and it will likely come at the Geneva auto show.

I get the impression Lamborghini wants to be the next Porsche. They hardly update their cars at all.

I’m just thankful VW didn’t make it look like an Audi, which seems to be their trend. I know this is a test mule but from what surfaced It looks like this new car will closely resemble the previous model. There was a time when Lamborghini’s cars were all radically different from the previous model, I was sad when the Diablo was unveiled and it became obvious that Lamborghini found a design direction (one that would follow the lines of the Countach.

Lamborghini president and CEO Stefan Winkelmann said it himself when they rolled out the 2006 Miura concept “The Miura (concept) was a celebration of our history, but Lamborghini is about the future”. Personally I would like to see Lamborghini make a radical departure from this current design. At any rate I’d love to see Lamborghini ad some diversity to their lineup.

Cool! Another half-million dollar toy.

Hey, I've got nothing against half-million dollar toys.
