Ford announced today that the redesigned 2012 Ford Focus will use a direct-injected, 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine. This is not the Focus pictured here, obviously, but the eventual Focus production car should end up looking a lot like the C-Max (which uses the same platform architecture) introduced in Frankfurt.
Said 2.0-liter engine will also use Ti-VCT, which is the company's new shorthand for variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust side.
In addition, Ford said it plans to offer its smallest cars with both "six-speed and dual-clutch transmissions" -- which likely has implications for both the Fiesta and the Focus.
