Not a bad deal for a Ford Mustang with the new 412-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8, provided it's true of course. Ford hasn't officially released pricing, but the numbers rained down from MustangHeaven yesterday and they appear legitimate.
On the bottom end, the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 coupe will arrive with a $22,995 price tag. That includes the new 305-horsepower, 3.7-liter V6 mated to a six-speed transmission. On the high end, the 2011 Mustang convertible premium will start at $38,695.

Devastating news for the Camaro and Challenger. It like death by a thousand paper cuts. Ford slowly but surely addressed nearly every inadequacy of the already popular mustang. With exception to the live rear axle…and personally id prefer it on a Pony car. And ford still has the eco boost engine in wait if cafe standards resurface (like the SVO predecessor).

300 HP for less than 20k (let's be honest it's a ford so sticker isn't a reality)...not bad.

Seems it wasn't too long ago that Ford was being widely criticized for its mild update of their retro Mustang and its archaeic live rear axle, compared with the Challenger and pending arrival of the Camaro. Now Chrysler and GM's offerings are washed up just because of this? A new and more powerful engine is great, but Ford is only doing it to make *their* car more competitive, as continually happens in the auto biz. It's a great time to be a consumer.
Interestingly, just five years ago, the newly retro Mustang GT had a starting price of $25K. Now at $30K, even with the upgrades, it's a continuing illustration of how far the dollar's value continues to fall.

yes cwc1 is absolutely right.
Charging $30k for 412 hp that gets a mere 17/25 mpg is ridiculous. Just an illusion. dollar values. falling. yes. for sure.

2011 Mustang GT: $30,495
*All prices listed above include the $850 Destination and Delivery Charge
Not bad for an added 95hp-97hp, 6-speed transmissions, improved performance and slightly better fuel economy.

I think it says something that they want to display the car this way. I can see Audi wanting to show you just how impressive the R8 is underneath for example; but a relatively inexpensive pony car? This certainly would be one of the places that things would be done cheap as possible IMO - yet it is good enough to put on display. Hmmm.
