Subaru released officials photos and details on the 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI R205. Of course, you should contain your enthusiasm as this most elite of STIs is only for Japan. The R205 goes on sale there today, and Subaru will build 400. The MSRP is 4,510,000 yen, which by today's exchange rate, is about $48,325.
Subaru says much of the go-even-faster hardware on the STI R205 was vetted on the STI that competed in the 2009 Nurburgring 24 Hours race. (Photos of that car are here.)
Key upgrades over the STI Spec C start under the hood. The turbocharger is a more durable ball-bearing design (apparently more so than the one in the Spec C), while the Subaru Tecnica International engineers squeezed out more power (316 horsepower at 6,400 rpm versus 304) and more torque (318 versus 311) at a lower rpm (4,000 versus 4,400), by remapping the 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder's ECU and installing a new exhaust with reduced back-pressure.
The R205's lightweight 18-inch cast wheels are wrapped in 245/40R18 Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires. The car has grooved and ventilated brake rotors at all four corners with six-piston fixed Brembo calipers up front and a four-pot set in back.
Other details on the R205 include a standard flexible strut tower brace (already something you can order from the STI catalog in Japan) and upgraded stabilizer bars. The R205 also has a unique lower front lip spoiler and rear diffuser. Inside, the expected JDM Recaro seats are fitted, but the only rear difference is the addition of an individually numbered plaque and R205 door sill logos.
More photos after the jump.

all the suspensions bits are stamped STI on it, not the regular model. Can I get some and swap them on mine?
The brake are money. (Looks like GT-R's)

I don't get it, the Subaru has a better turbo a less restrictive exhaust and a tune all of which boosts the STI's power to a sum of 316. Wow i am laughing so hard. in case anyone is wondering, in stock trim the power is 305 hp. my friend has a 2004 STI with a intake, turboback, and a tune and he is making 294 hp to the wheels.

All of this, and that STI still can't go against the Fq-360, let alone the Fq-400...
Why Subaru?! Why!?

ravenstyle: That 2004 STi you mention, assuming it's US-spec, also has a 2.5-liter engine, whereas this one is only 2.0. Getting this kind of power out of a 2-liter engine is insane to begin with, especially when the manufacturer has to be able to sign off on it and back the product with what I assume would be a full normal warranty.
If they could get the same power-to-liter ratio out of the 2.5, that beast would be pushing almost 400 hp.

I could watch Shrek a million times and still hate that hood scoop.

Nightvzn: Regarding the Subaru STI, the japanese spec motors which are 2.0 liter units put out the same power (not torque) as the 2.5L motors in the U.S. +/_ 5 hp. anyway, a 2.0L STI motor with those kind of engine modifications and a price tag SIGNIFICANTLY (15K) over stock should not be putting out a whopping 11hp more than in stock trim Even with the other modifications. Anyone who is economically conscious would not spend about 15K more than a standard STI to have a car that is nearly the same as a stock STI considering all it's new modifications.

"nightvzn"
You are saying that 300hp is too much power on a 2.5l?
How about a 2.0l with 405hp stock and with a 36 month drivetrain warranty?
Yeah, that'd be an Evo X FQ-400 (UK Only) like I mentioned above, Subaru is still lacking an STI trim over the 400hp mark...

Progress is wonderful. Its before March brought us wonders as great as sliced bread, democracy, and the weight Shake, strange as seen-on TV product that dubious pacts a workout while toning and six minutes a day. And now, for 2011, yields on the progress of a strong Impreza WRX STI which addresses long-standing complaints about its handling.
