Video: The Chevy Volt Dance, GM's Response to the Prius Rap?

Perhaps you've seen the amusing "In My Prius" rap by Casual Mafia. Should we then take "The Chevy Volt Dance" as a response? It's best described as folksy pop, but there's breakdancing at the end.

If you've ever been moved to rap about hybrids or dance about mpg, we'd love to hear about it, or better yet, see a video of it.

The only time mpg makes me dance is when my car's range is longer than my range on a long drive and the next exit or rest stop is several miles down the highway...

No wonder everyone at GM is getting fired... they spend all day putting stuff like this together.

i lost some respect for the volt due to this. just put out quality and attractive advertising, not crappy youtube videos that were conceived in 2 minutes.

i think when the "not long :-)" post was made, Whitacre had already seen this.

That was the gayest thing I have ever seen or heard.

First the Prius rap and now the Volt dance. What kind of sick joke is this?

It's a lame dance at an autoshow. I'm sure others had lame dancers at the autoshow too. Let's not pretend that GM is trying to start a new dance craze. I'm pretty sure we won't see this on commercials.

The Prius rap was very tongue in cheek, and more of a parody than an ad. That Volt ad was just stupid, shrill, and annoying.

I've seen these GM dances as a sign of a bigger problem; a mindset stuck 50 years in the past.

Whenever I've attended auto shows, it's only been GM (sometimes Ford) that have these goofy dance numbers. Dance numbers were something big back in the 50's and 60's for car shows. Nobody uses these today, except GM. We complain about GM still thinking slowly, slow to react to changing market conditions, and releasing product that only the geriatric upper management seems excited about. GM counters saying, "Hey, we got the Volt!" Then they release a dance number. Something straight out of 1955.

It lends credence to the assumption that GM product planning is more knee-jerk response than it is strategic thinking.

Choreographing a dance isn't a sign of the end times, but I think it's a goofy reminder of how GM can still do things so out of place with the rest of the automotive world.

I don't know what you're all complaining about. I think that dance is Solid Gold!

Its good to see I'm not the only one that thinks that.
