"That is how a V8 should sound."
According to you 1487. Big V8s do sound good but there is just something about a small displacement V8 with high revving characteristics that just rows my boat. The M3, Audi R8, Ferrari V8's (F40/355 are my favorite) have very unique sounds that heighten the driving experience at least for me. Extreme revs just take it to a whole different level of excitement. If all V8's sounded alike it would be a very boring experience as the driver would already know what to expect. Try a bit of variety, I swear it wont hurt you.
Examples:
F335 Spyder Dyno: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBz9wsLT3DA
Ferrari F40: (All footage of the F40 is good but 1:15 to 1:25 the sound makes the hair on my neck stand.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFcTyf0R8Uw
As for the SLS, I think it's a gorgeous car (instant classic) and that V8 should be used in the E63 not the detuned version. Unfortunately this "6.3" V8 will live a short life as twin turbo 5.5L AMG V8's are around the corner.

Nice to see Jay doing at least 60mph in a marked 25mph residential neighbourhood.
He should now take that car to the 'real' Mulholland - the road that connects Pacific Coast Highway to the valley, and show what it can do.
p.s. does he only wear old denim shirts?

If that's how a V8 "should" sound, then there won't be a V8 in my future car purchases.
Luckily, the other European companies (e.g., Ferrari, M3, Maserati, Aston) manage to make V8s sound sexy.
