Video: F30 BMW 3 Series in Cold Weather Testing

We showed you spy photos of the next-generation BMW 3 Series last month. Now someone's made a handheld video of the F30 3 Series sedan at the Arctic Circle. For most of this video, the car's just sitting at a gas station, but around the 1:15 mark, the driver starts to drive away.

The exhaust note is surprisingly guttural as the car pulls into traffic. Initially, we would have guessed those twin exhaust tips indicated it was a 335i with BMW's new TwinPower N55 engine. But with these sounds, it's hard to say definitively whether we're hearing a gas engine or a diesel.

That exhaust note didn't sound too bad though...almost like a V8. And there was definitely some diesel noise in the background, apparently from some other vehicle.

It took BMW roughly 40 years to go through the E (entwicklung) chassis codes, so they've recently switched to F with the introduction of the 2009 7-series. And already, they're on F30? Besides the upcoming 5-series which is an F10, wit seems they're skipping a lot more of the digits in-between than they used to.

I don't think it was a diesel.
