That Didn't Take Long: F11 BMW 5 Series Wagon Spy Photos Surface

Updated

Renderings of the redesigned F11 BMW 5 Series wagon turned up a week ago, and now shooters in Germany have taken photos of a prototype, possibly a 535i, with its front end completely uncamouflaged.

While Europeans can look forward to as many as 7 power plant offering for their 5 Series Touring, if we see it at all, we're told it will be only the 2012 BMW 535xi wagon.

Already looking better than the chunky ugly sedan

this almost made me throw up. i dont understand the ideas of wagons. might as well get a darn suv. IMO its either sedan or suv no middle ground.

The Volvo V 70 looks a lot nicer. Oh and the last gen Taurus wagons look better also. Silver is just a terrible color for this car.

LOL fg2rac3r, you didn't get the point of wagons? And you prefer SUVs over wagons? hahaha. What kind of world you're living in?

How about awd, better handling, better performance, almost same space as SUVs, lighter, more agile, cheaper, fuel efficient, practical? Only thing you don't get is the high seating position is a wagon. For instance, current 5 series touring offers same cargo space as X5, so go figure.

Anyway, I think this new 5 series touring looks waaaaaaaaaaaay better than 5 series GT. I saw gt in person, and it looks hideous, plus backseat is only for two people, and trunk is no larger than regualr 5 series sedan. Plus it's cheaper than a GT 5er, so I know which one I'd get if I were in the market.

I really love the 5 series bimmers, but I've got to say the design on this new one is waaaaaaaay to conservative. I'm already tired of it. Feels like a last gen design.

Thank gawd! They fixed the headlights. THEY FIXED THE HEADLIGHTS! All is right with my world now. Now I can legitimately add this car to my consideration list for must-have wagons. Previous hideous headlight design going back to 2004 made the car a non-starter. Don't care how good of a vehicle it was. Oh my, the headlights are better.... the headlights!

I agree with e34bmwlover abdout fg2rac3r... Wagons are superior in every way over SUV's when comparing what 99% of people use them for.

During the first road test, I'd love to see the 5 series wagon compare to the X5 as Inside Line had previously compared the Q5 to the A4 Avant.

That actually looks pretty good. Let's hope they offer more than one drive train this time around.

Might I suggest that the side looks remarkably similar to my '09 Audi A4's? I'm guessing that the next A4 will have twin kidneys up front.
