Several weeks ago we covered the unveiling of the Ford Fiesta S2000 rally car in Cumbria, England. Built by M Sport, the company which builds Ford's current Focus WRC, the Fiesta is scheduled to replace the Focus in the WRC in 2011 (albeit with a smaller 1600cc turbocharged engine).
Ford chose Rally Scotland (a non-WRC event) as the venue for the world to see the Fiesta S2000 driven on stages in anger for the first time. It ran as the course-opening car and was not entered in the event.
At Rally Scotland the Fiesta was fitted with a 2.0-liter normally aspirated engine good to 8,000 rpm (full Super 2000 class trim) -- and the sound is striking. It utilizes a six-speed sequential transmission and all-wheel drive. And check out that front suspension travel.

true, no evos or wrxs makes the wrc a 2 brand race: peugeot and ford...though i gotta say, the fiesta looks mighty despite its size. I think the Ford will make a fine competitor to the current crop of Fits and Yarises out there.
