Pastrana To Attempt Record-Setting Rally Car Jump on New Year's Eve

The kid is at it again -- trying to shorten his life, that is. But at the same time extending his string of firsts in the action sports world. This time Pastrana will attempt to jump a Subaru WRX STI rally car from the end of the Pine Street Pier in Long Beach, California to a barge floating in the harbor.

More after the...wait for it..."jump."

Pastrana will be trying to break his teammate Ken Block's distance record of 171 feet live on ESPN sometime before midnight Eastern time on New Year's Eve.

We're not sure if this is as outright stupid as Robbie Madison's jump onto and off of the faux Arc de Triomphe in Las Vegas last year, but it certainly registers high on the meter.
