After casually telling Inside Line about AMG's twin-turbo plans, Dr. Thomas Weber from Daimler's Board of Management, let loose with some information on a few upcoming new models.
Next year we can expect to see a facelift of the R-Class along with a minor restyle on the CL coupe. Like the new E-Class convertible, the CL will be renamed S-Class Coupe. There's also a fully redesigned CLS sedan schedued to debut.
In 2011, Weber told us that a C-Class coupe will arrive. We presume he meant a true C-Class two-door and not another awkward hatchback. In addition to the coupe, all C-Class models will get a facelift.
More news will arrive in 2011 with the complete redesigns of the SLK roadster and ML sport utility vehicle. There's even a diesel/electric E-Class Bluetec Hybrid scheduled for production.
Finally, in 2012, an all-new SL roadster arrives. Early prototypes have already been caught running around Germany. With twin-turbo V8 power, it should be fast, and slightly greener, an important selling point in the locales when such vehicles are popular.

That awkward hatchback was very useful when my wife had hers. Fold the seats and I fit my entire full stack and 2 bass guitars in that thing whenever I played out. We also brought home a glass top table with it, lid closed. It was actually a very practical alternative to a small SUV. Never had a single problem with it for the hundred+ thousand miles she had it either. The only negative I had about it was it's capabilities in the white stuff. Even then the had an array of TCS and ESC systems to "help" if you want t o call it that...
