So there's a new commercial for the Chrysler 300 that advocates for the release of a Myanmar pro-democracy/human rights leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who is under house arrest for most of the last 14 years.
We support the release of Aung San Suu Kyi, too, but this is an odd ad. Surely, there are better ways to influence Myanmar's government than to embed the message in a commercial for a six-year-old American sedan in need of a redesign.

"six-year-old American sedan in need of a redesign"
Still, it's a nice car.

It's not a ad for the car duder it's an ad for whatever that human rights foundation was. I imagine the agreement between the nonprofit and Chrysler is that Chrysler gets to pimp one of its cars in the commercial.

Wow - this commercial might just set a precedent. Exploiting human rights to generate business good will amongst idiotic consumers. This add was akin to "dedicating" a model of a car to someone who's dead and has no say against it. I'm sure Aung San Suu Kyi, after decades of house arrest, really appreciates this "dedication."
What has/will Chrysler do to help the Burmese people? Nothing.

Looks like their new owners might have something to do with this. Chrysler isn't the only Fiat owned company playing this up:

It keeps Aung San Suu Kyi in the news and in people's minds, so it's a good thing for his cause. C'mon, you really think he's going to be offended?
