GM recently named Chris Liddell as its new Chief Financial Officer. He held the same title at Microsoft, but it was no secret that he aspired to be the top guy.
According to Phil LeBeau at CNBC, Mr. Liddell may very well get that chance.
"Let's be clear," LeBeau writes, "Chris Liddell is not being hired JUST to be General Motors CFO. Sure, he'll get that title and hold that job for several months, but his future at GM will go way beyond overseeing the company's financial operations. Liddell has the look and feel of an accomplished executive GM Chairman Ed Whitacre could see as the perfect CEO for General Motors."
So let's see, GM got rid of "finance guy" Rick Wagoner, went through bankruptcy, was more or less purchased by the federal government and is now going to dig itself out of the hole with another yet another "finance guy" at the helm? Should be interesting.

Don't forget, Henderson was a finance guy, too. He was in charge of GMAC (epic fail) and VP of GM's finance division for much of his career.
The sad thing is, GM still isn't fiscally responsible. I think an outsider is a great idea. I'm not 100% supportive of Liddell, though.

Liddell has crazy eyes. I never date girls with crazy eyes, and I wouldn't someone with crazy eyes in charge of my company either.

^^ That's hilarious, compliance! But, those are also the eyes of a raptor. I don't know if that changes anything.

He has an education in engineering and philosophy.
Wagoner, in economics and business.
Hard to compare them.
