You'd expect a $2 million supercar with a 7.3-liter V12 making upward of 700 horsepower to perform feats of greatness and the 2011 Aston-Martin One-77 apparently has. During development testing at Aston's "top secret proving ground" in southern Europe, it reportedly hit 220.007 mph. That beats the Vanquish S, which is said to have a top speed of 200 mph (321+ km/hr, says Aston).
This particular top speed run took place on a windy day, too, so Aston engineers think it might go even faster and have promised to continue testing into January 2010.
Aston says it's still on track to begin production of the single run of 77 cars in 2010 with deliveries beginning in the summer.

hmmm. i think i would buy two bugatti veyrons instead. but this car def. looks better from this angle at least. looks like it has a huge rear quarter though. something like beyonce hips.

the Veyron may be cheaper but to be honest the Veyron is too much of a Technical juggernaut for me. The Veyron seems to me to be something that would be a hassle to own and operate. And I couldn’t buy/lease the LFA simply because I don’t see the appeal of a Japanese super car especially when it looks like a 2002 Supra with a wide body kit and costs $420,000. The one-77 is beautiful, powerful and Luxuries and I don’t have to be an aerospace engineer to know how to change the sparkplugs.
Congratulations to Aston Martin. I guess beauty can be bought, if you just so happen to have 2million sitting in your bank.

For 2 millions I can get LFA, GT-R SpecV, 458 Italia, Viper SRT10 ACR-X, and Rolls Royce Phantom Drop Head. I don't think CF structure worths that much since people say LFA doesn't worth 420K with 65% CF structure.

I agree that the Veyron would probably be a huge hassle to own and operate but the One-77 is going to be just as much of a hassle to own and operate as any limited run, astronomically priced super car.

I could buy a Koenigsegg CCXR and maybe a Zenvo ST1 with that money.

I herd the Vanquish S was faster than 200 but that may be a rumor. competition is fierce these days especially since Aston's former sister company jaguar now matches it in the grand scheme of todays horsepower race. Jaguar like Aston provides a 470 hp four door. coincidence, i dont think so. the same goes with the 510 hp XK and DBS. While the DBS is of course quicker (though not by much), I still cant figure out how Jag managed to squeeze 225 mph out of a 600 hp prototype XF sedan while Aston's brand new multimillion dollar hypercar prototype can only manage 220. I realize these are insane numbers to begin with but for the money, I would agree with everyone else. just go for something else. I would only see myself buying it for the looks. It one of the most beautiful cars ever produced, however its still an embarrassment that its trumped by a fat cat with a huge wing.
