Video: Official Debut of Ford Fiesta S2000 Rally Car

We like the layman's version of the Ford Fiesta a great deal, and we're not alone. This is also the car off which Ford plans to base its next World Rally Championship car, and yesterday in Cumbria, England, Malcolm Wilson, director of M-Sport (and the driving force behind Ford's WRC efforts) and Gerald Quinn, head of Ford Motorsport Europe, unveiled the Fiesta S2000 rally car. It will replace the Focus starting with the 2011 WRC season.

If you just want to see the car, fast-forward to 3:30.

The cars look great! Ford is a huge player in rally, so I expect exciting things coming.

What an ugly rally car. I hope that now since WRC is slowly adopting S2000 regulations, not mandatory until 2011, either the WRC wilts and the IRC becomes the prominent series, or IRC manufacturers who have more S2000 experience head into the WRC and knock the socks off Ford and Citroen. This will also give Kris Meeke a chance to show Matt Wilson how to drive.
