Video: Dump Truck Pushed Off Fourth Floor of Packard Building in Detroit

dumptruck-717.jpg

Why did these people spend nearly four months trying to push this dump truck off the fourth floor of the abandoned Packard building in Detroit?

Because it was there and no one was around to tell them not to.

It's just one part of a Wall Street Journal article about how Detroit has become a vandal's paradise thanks to an endless supply of empty buildings. Quite the uplifting read. Video after the break.

Had they used your idea, Jackson, and pulled it down.....maybe it would have resulted in a little natural selection outcome?!? Darn!

Hey maybe now that they're done with it, Dan can have their jack to replace his?

Honestly, these vandals are probably doing everybody a favor by tearing down these buildings. By lowering demo costs, it becomes more profitable for new structures to be created. All it takes is the right entrepreneur.

take some chain, attach it to the truck, take the other end, attach it to your own truck, and then drive away. the 50-60 feet of chain would certainly be long enough to keep a safe distance, as i think i saw a guy in the WSJ picture that was 20 feet away.

I like how they consider it a major accomplishment; "something nobody has done before".

What? It took you four freaking months to push a dump truck off a ledge? That's something to be embarrassed by, not proud of.

How did they manage to get the Dump Truck to the 4th floor in the first place?

I think Letterman did that stupid trick a few hundred times.

Oh, and Top Gear got a Toyota Hilux on the roof of a skyscraper. So no kudos for Detroit!

If they are typical of the people of Detriot there is no surprise that it looks the way it does.

It took 4 months to figure out how to push a truck out a window? Their home looks like a wasteland and that's the most useful thing they could think of to do with their time?

Trust me... "the right entrepreneur" isn't going to bring his money and effort there.

They should be arrested...

Wow....how about leaving your irrational stereotypes out of these blogs?

How is it irrational or a sterotype?

It's a comment based on the people in the video and the state of the city. Both are embarrassing for a modern country. Can you argue that?
