Going around little Welsh roads was totally the wrong environment for this car. Top Gear wins. I love the sound of that car.

To me this clip shows why fifth gear will always be "the other" British car show.

Don't forget Season 14 of Top Gear starts this Sunday, folks!

Top Gear! I like the camera work better, the hosts make all the difference and of course, the test track. But either one blows away all the shows made here in the US. Our shows are so clinical it puts me to sleep. The US hosts report on a car like a 5th grade book report; there's no emotion! And they always put some rock music over the engine noise so we can barely hear it (6 vs. 8 promo is a good example). TG makes sure the engine noise accompanies the music instead of getting drowned out by it.

I didn't watch the videos, as they're going to be nothing more than an isolated example.
I'll take Fifth Gear. Top Gear has better cinematography, writing, and access to more toys. Top Gear lies and cheats to produce the results they think will be more enticing.
I avoid liars and cheats. Fifth Gear wins by default. It also doesn't hurt that Vicki is a cutie.

Well, Fifth Gear has been canceled, so I guess that's been sorted out. That said, I did enjoy the "other" show. Tom Ford and Johnny Smith had good chemistry, and Tiff was always fun to watch.

I used to love Fifth Gear when they showed it on Speed Channel here in the US (don't get me started on how much I've been let down by Speed channel). Of these two, I really liked the Fifth Gear clip a little more. But they're both great, and the comment about American car shows is soooo true. Both of these shows really let you hear the beauty of this car (the engine) among other things. In regards to the comparison in the Top Gear clip, I know the SLR is fast, but it is SUCH a different car than the Murcielago SV.

Yeah, either show blows anything from the US out of the water, they're either clinically boring, or completely over-wrought with crappy metal music that you can barely hear the host, let alone the cars.
