Yep, you read that right. According to Sky News, Cha Sa-Soon of South Korea has been taking and failing driver's tests daily since 2005.
It has cost her nearly $4,000 over the years, but she never gave up, finally passing with a reassuring 60%.
Oh, and this was just the written part. She still has to take the actual driving test before getting a license.

I learned two things.
1. It costs about $4 to take the drivers test in SK.
2. 60% is a horribly low standard for passing something like a drivers test.

you can't jupm to that judgement so quickly.
All Asian tests are much harder than American tests.
So a 60% could be a 95% on an American test.
Like a 100% at a community college test is a 20% at a Harvard test for the same course.
Remember those Driver's Ed courses? The Answer key: 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4. We have no standards in the USA. Anyone with an IQ of 85 and up can pass.

I'd agree with you if she had passed on the 2nd or 3rd try but 950 tries?
She could have simply guessed on every answer and eventually got 60% out just luck.
Sorry but some people lack the ability to do complex tasks and if she couldn't pass it in a reasonable number of tries then she should not be allowed to continue. How many tries should we give her to make the right choice when a child runs out in front of her in traffic?
I do agree our tests should be much tougher. If someone lacks the ability and won't make a reasonable effort to learn then there is always public transit.
Great way to reduce traffic congestion, reduce pollution and reduce accidents all in one move.

Driving tests in SK are 100x harder than in the US. Most Americans would not pass a SK test.
I have been to SK and would not want to drive there! You think NYC, Boston, Chicago and LA are bad? Mix all of them and you have SK.
I bet she doesn't intend to drive. It's probably just a hobby. Everyone has goals.

I have never seen a city (large or small) that didn't have buses or taxis. Even the small town I grew up in had a basic bus service and taxis.
If you happen to be one of the handfull that has no alternate transportation (or friends or family that can drive) then you just have to try harder or move somewhere where someone can look after you.

I don't know if it matters if a drivers test is hard or easy. I think better drivers exist in the states as hard as that is to believe. If I could change one thing on a U.S. driver's test it would be to add 10 more questions. All of which would be about how to use the fast lane.
I've ridden in taxis and buses in South Korea several times and its mad. They can have a difficult drivers test but if drivers don't care it doesn't matter.
