Fewer flights and a widespread craving for turducken will result in more drivers on the interstates and turnpikes next week. AAA predicts that holiday drivers will number 33.2 million, a 2.1-percent increase over last year -- this despite the fact that the average price of 87 octane is $2.62/gallon, up 56 cents from November 2008. Airfares are lower than this time last year, AAA reports, but only 2.3 million holiday revelers will fly -- a decline of 6.7 percent.
As ever, the Wednesday before is the worst day to begin your driving adventures, says AAA, while Turkey Day itself promises lighter traffic.
