Is Barack Obama Headed to the Detroit Auto Show?

naias-logo-250.jpg Probably not, but plenty of his Washington D.C. colleagues are. The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the Detroit Auto show has been forced to come up with a new kind of badge for the show to meet the demand for access by elected officials.

So in other words, the government handed its money over and now it wants to see what it's getting in return. Expect to see plenty of lawmakers on hand taking credit for saving GM and Chrysler. And don't forget the opposition to the bailout. They'll be there in full force to argue why it was such a waste of money. Should make for an interesting show.

Lawmakers haven't "saved" GM or Chrysler yet. Ford, sans bailout, looks like the clear winner in the short term.

Wouldn't mind Obama attending. It would certainly reinforce that our govt is behind the auto industry and things are looking better than late 2008 - first half of 2009.

Why not? What's one more photo op for this prez? Maybe he could bow to GM's Fritz Henderson. I wonder how much all of this B.S. traveling is setting back the taxpayers...er, China?
