Cobra Jet is just one of those names that's so manly it would be use it for our fighter-pilot radio handle. Or maybe it could be our on-screen name if we worked on-camera for a local network TV affiliate: "...reporting from the Hackensack city council chambers, this is Cobra Jet."
Ford Motor Company has chosen, instead, to use the name for its factory-built drag racer -- a moniker it's used since 1968. Most recently, the company used the name for a series of 2008 drag-dedicated Mustangs. The company has brought to the SEMA show in Las Vegas a 2010 version in "one-of-a-kind 'SEMA Special' silver Cobra Jet with charcoal...graphics package.

Forget the paint for a moment and the car you see above going out for a smoke could be had for about $93,800. A base version would run about $74,900 says Ford. What makes up the substantial disparity in pricing? We don't know. Ford hasn't announced full availability. It has said however that it will build only 50 CJs and that all of them have been purchased already by Ford dealers for delivery to customers.
The heavily modified 'Stang you see here gets a (roughly) 475 hp supercharged 5.4-liter V8 with an intake element that looks to be about the size of an office trash can, manual steering and brakes, fully adjustable front and rear shocks, line lock, full instrumentation, full roll cage, 4.29 rear axle 10.5-inch wide rear Hoosier slicks and an ear drum-pummeling exhaust note. The 2010 Cobra Jet Mustang also comes with a launch control/rev limiter system which kind of seems like cheating to us, but okay.

this is quite a contradiction to what Ford has been doing with the styling of their cars. Whoever approved this ugly thing should be fired at once.

If I bought this I would put a "Nancy Pelosi can suck my tailpipe" sticker across the back windshield and cruise by my local PETA meeting and hit the rev limiter a couple times...Its good to see American car companies are still...American.

The hood makes it literally look like a cobra.
Kinda cool, but a little over-the-top for me.

What does a muscle car have to do with people who are concerned for the welfare of animals?? They're not an environmental group.
