And the great plan for the underwhelming car known as the Chrysler Sebring? The ribs will be removed from the hood during a mid-cycle refresh slated for the fourth-quarter of 2011 2010.
We say it's going to take more than a smooth hood to make that dog hunt. A mercy killing seems more appropriate here, and we expect that to happen in the 2012-2013 timeframe when Chrysler-Fiat introduces a D-segment sedan to replace the Dodge Avenger, the Sebring's twin.

And it will only take another 1 1/2 years for them to de-rib it! Will wonders never cease?

Uh, hello? Fact-checking department? Might want to do a little research on the interwebs before publishing. The ribs are already off the hood...

@adb4: Uh, yeah, well, the hood still has creases in it (even if they're not out-and-out *ribs*) as you can see from the photo of the 2010 Chrysler Sebring in this post.
As we understand, based on our live attendance at today's press conferences, those "styling" cues will be removed in the upcoming refresh, which will also affect the interior, engine lineup and NVH levels. And that refresh, friends, is coming in *2010* -- not 2011 as I mistakenly typed. That leaves you two whole years to buy a Sebring before it's retired. -- Erin Riches

Is an ugly car to begin with. Is a K.F.R.O (kept for rental only) car.

Uh, yeah, well, Erin, your condescending response to adb4 was uncalled for, and certainly inaccurate. The ribs have indeed been removed already from the 2010. Those ribs were the contentious styling issue, not the creases. What you are looking at in the photo are creases only. Most cars have creases or character lines of some sort in the hood, and these are no different, and hardly a valid point of criticism. As you stated, the 2010 refresh is expected to be very extensive; at least as extensive as the widely praised upgrades to the Ford Fusion.
This is a perfect example of the jumping on the bandwagon effect of bloggers/"journalists" slagging Chrysler, when they don't even really know what they are talking about.

Removing the ribs/creases/who f-ing cares doesn't change the fact that it's still a total piece of crap of a modern car.
