A story posted yesterday on Wired.com claimed that the founders of Aptera, an electric vehicle company, has been ousted in a boardroom coup. Sounds about par for the course for a company that started with passionate founders and then hired industry veterans to come in and make it a real company.
The only problem with the story? It's untrue, at least according to PopularMechanics. In a follow up report, PM says that there is no friction between the board and the founders. There is a money problem though, so the two founders decided to take some time off to reduce the company's cash burn.
Aptera recently applied for a government loan after the rules were changed to include the three-wheeled Aptera 2e. Although the vehicle is close to production, the company still has a ways to go before the 2e starts heading out the door. In the meantime, the company is conserving cash in hopes the loan will go through.
Wired's correspondent, Daryl Siry, a former Tesla spokesman, says his sources are right and Aptera is trying to spin its way out of the story. Who's right? Read the articles and decide for yourself.

One thing for sure, the Aptera is damn wide (because of the outboard front wheels), it might be considered too wide for many.
At around 91 inches, its almost 5 inches wider than a Hummer H1 (86.5in) and about a foot wider than a Ford Expedition (78.8in)!
