Today BMW released this "teaser shot" of the 2011 BMW 5 Series, which is getting a full redesign. To create this, uh, true to life silhouette, BMW designers made use of the kinetic sculpture exhibit at the BMW Museum in Munich. You can watch a short video of the "construction" phase after the jump.
Needless to say, earlier spy shots of the next-gen 5 Series give you a much better idea of how it will look -- pretty much like a scaled down BMW 7 Series. And the next M5 was spotted even before that.
BMW will officially unveil the 2011 5 Series on November 23 at 8 p.m. Central European time -- in other words, 2 p.m. if you're on the east coast, 11 a.m. if you're in California.

Neat. Uh....anything really different (besides the obvious interior/exterior styling) with the new 5 or just more of the same?

Is that Max agent 86 in the video?

hondacura4, I believe they are getting rid of the V10 in favor of the TT V8 for the M5; other than that, I don't recall anything else of particular significance.

I saw that kinetic sculpture display in the BMW Museum a couple weeks ago, too cool. I could watch it for hours. The floor is glass so you can also watch it from underneath a floor below.

I knew the V10 was getting axed. To be more specific I was speaking of the more mainstream 5 Series trims. It seems like the current 4.8L V8 in the 550i would be replaced by the 400hp 4.4L TT V8 from the 7 Series.
