2010 Acura ZDX Priced at $46,305

2010_acura_zdx_blog.jpg

We finally have an on-sale date (December 15) and a base price ($46,305) for Acura's MDX-based, five-seat, hatchback-shaped crossover called the ZDX. A 300-horsepower version of the company's 3.7-liter V6 is under the hood of every 2010 Acura ZDX, and a six-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels through the vehicle's Super-Handling AWD (that's SH-AWD to you) system. And every ZDX has a 16 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, 19 mpg combined EPA fuel economy rating.

If add the Technlogy package, which includes navigation (with real-time traffic and weather), a rearview camera, keyless start and what's sure to be a very fine Panasonic ELS surround-sound system, you'll move up to $50,805.

Above that, there's the Advance package, which further adds adaptive cruise control, adaptive suspension damping, a blind-spot warning system, collision mitigation braking support (that keeps that left pedal down when your nerves fail), upgraded Milano leather upholstery, and heated/ventilated seats. All together, that will cost you $56,855.

And in fact, the 2010 ZDX with Advance Package is the most expensive Acura you can buy in 2010, eclipsing the RL, which tops out at $55,060.

I see Acura is copying Nissan's SUV rear door handle design; a clear victory of styling over function.

they claim they only plan to sell a few thousand a year- this pricing guarantees that will happen.

rsholland: I have a current gen Nissan Pathfinder. The rear door handle design is well executed. I'd say its more like function and style. But thats just me.

Now I cant say the word style and Acura ZDX fit together.

Not if you have small children, who can't easily reach the rear door handle. This was a specific criticism of a friend of mine with small kids when he looked at Nissan SUVs.

Complete with the "corporate shield" front grill, silver beak, or whatever you want to call it. Blech.

Ridiculous price. What as happened to Acura?

Anybody else distracted by all odd the seams/gaps in this car. Many cars (Audis for example) blend away the panel seams to the point where you don't even notice them. To me, this looks like a puzzle or a toy that a kid would have where you move the pieces around until they fit.....in this case, I'd tell the kid to try again.

They feel its an X6 for thousands less. No one looking at an X6 is really all that concerned about being frugal.

What a hideous vehicle. It actually makes the X6 look coherent, which is impressive.

I have finally come to a conclusion:

Most Attractive New Cars are made By:
Volkswagen AG (VW, Audi, Porsche, Etc)

Most Ugly New Cars are made By:
Honda AG (Honda, Acura)

This is just a nail in the coffin.

Top prices:
X6 xDrive50i: $88,375
X6 xDrive35i: $80,725
X5 xDrive30i: $76,775
ML350 4MATIC: $65,748
FX35 AWD: $57,595

Still can't top the German numerals, even against the Germans' smaller engines.
Acuras are dirt cheap. I can't believe they're still in business with practically rock bottom prices!

If you can't afford an Acura, you can't afford any luxury car!

$4,630.5 would be more sensible for a car that looks like that that...

Just when I thought the Ugly Wars between BMW and Acura reached its peak with the 5-Series GT, Acura one upped me with the ZDX. Please BMW, focus on the horsepower wars between you, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi. Acura...wither and die...you took a beautiful TL and butchered it, then you took you entire model line and smacked it with the ugly stick.

So is this THING, is the Acura equal to the Honda crosstour...THING? If it is, whats with the huge price difference, surely brand power cant account for such a huge price gap. and why buy this over an MDX for 40k? Less is more, for more. Is by far the worst platform to build a car off of. I.E the x6, this creature, and the CLS (too ugly for its price, only down fall), and the 5-series GT. Atleast audi justifes themselves, as for cheap luxury, they pretty much follow suit with acura, they arent terribly over priced, but they set themselves apart cause they are reallly really good looking cars.

It's the Honda Aztek!

I'm sorry, but this thing is just too strange for words. I love Honda/Acura. Have for years. I am, though, having a tough time with this new styling genre they are on right now. I hope they get past it soon!
